The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost (1920)

Had I Listened

Today I heard whimpers, Low groans and heavy breathing, Within me restlessness arose. Today I heard whispers, Low screams carrying a message rare, About the many ills I woo to myself. Today I heard a song solemn, Sung softly yet piercing by east chilly winds, Complaining, disapproving of my suicidal tendencies. Today, before I slid the blade on my veins, My shadow did me forewarn, Alas! I should have listened, and alive now be. Gerry Sikazwe

It Was Easy To Love You

Yesterday, It was easy to love you; To sooth your heart, With words from my tongue, To set ablaze your face, By mere smiles and laughter. Not today, not any more. Yesterday, It was easy to love you. Not now when you've changed, Not today when another woman you've become. Now when shamelessly, you wear someone else's skin, And learned ways of the unlovable. . Yesterday, It was easy to love you, For then you were pure, Void of any stain; Natural with beauty of the dawning Sun, Not today, not anymore For you're no longer a shiny apple in my eyes, You've lost your sparkle. . Yesterday, It was easy to love you; To shelter and protect you, To embrace and caress you, To forgive and start afresh with you, But not anymore. You gave up on yourself and us, It’s a fix to love you, now.

My Fairest, My Rose

If beauty had a body, that could be yours,  Heart-skippingly bright, than the moon glows,  You leave all in awe, even the great Sun,  A portrait, with rainbow colors done,  So complete that the cosmos envy you;  My woman, my lover, my only; you.  If ever beauty breathed and walked,  It would be, under your skin tucked.  You're beautiful truly, O fairest rose!  You're lovely indeed, O fairest rose!

Your Man

What shall I tell you?  What words will I say to you?  Now that love has blocked deaf your ears,  Now that love in your heart you brew,  Now that his love reddens your eyes.  I was the only man in your life,  Your daddy, your pal; your only man.  But now another, you have found for yourself,  With same words I showered you with, your heart he's stolen,  With ease, your love and trust he's won.  What if he means no good?  What if his plans for you be bad?  Naive, will you still nourish him with your love?  Will you leave him enthroned in your heart even when he really be a villain mad?  Nay, if ever his glittering mask falls of, please remember that me you still have.  Stay sober and love him while awake,  Your guards never pull down like I taught you,  Settle not for his words though sweet, lest they be fake!  And if ever he hurts you,  R...

Notice Me

Watching stars burn, Inside the black of your eyes; Envokes desires enslaving, Passions that tickle my heart, Emotions that trigger thirst for you. Sore and sorrowful, my soul bleeds. Gerry Sikazwe

Beholding your face, I hope in my arms you grow, To flourish in them, And become a flower soft, With beauty of the blue sky. Gerry Sikazwe
